A quick safeguarding guide to Recruiting Volunteers.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our churches. Without them our churches could not exist.
However small or large their contribution to the life of our Christian communities, each volunteer needs to know that we value and appreciate them and the work they do.
When we’re not clear about what we’re asking a volunteer to do or the scale of the task feels overwhelming it can be hard to encourage new people to come forward. This guide sets out some basic steps for recruiting volunteers.
By taking some time to find out a little bit about the volunteer, explain what the role involves and ensure the volunteer understands and is comfortable with what they are being asked to do, we can show them that we value and appreciate the time and commitment they are offering to the life of our church.
The guide also offers some advice on the steps you need to take to recruit volunteers who are working with children, young people and adults who may be vulnerable.
