Training and Events
Whether you're working in church or the wider community there are some great training opportunities for those working with children and families.
Bishop's Certificate in Children Ministry
The Bishop’s Certificate in Children’s Ministry is a wonderful way to meet and share with others who work with children in a Christian context and to be inspired with ideas to take back to your church.
It is a professional quality training programme, delivered by a dynamic delivery team, all of whom are experienced in various aspects of children’s ministry, and led by the Director of Growing Younger (Children and Families).
Achievement of the certificate will require attendance at all six sessions and satisfactory completion of a portfolio that records personal learning. Participants will also be required to complete a Level One Safeguarding course at some point during the year. It is possible to participate in any of the sessions as a single training day. Sessions run from 10am to 4pm on six Saturdays over 12 months.
Growing with God
Growing with God is a well established day conference for any adults interested in nurturing the faith and spirituality of children. It’s for those who work with, or help with children in church on a Sunday, in midweek groups or in the local community, as well as for those who lead or co-ordinate children’s ministry in church. We have now extended the invitation to parents and carers who would like to think further about how they can nurture the faith of their children.
A creative and imaginative approach to Christian nurture, Godly Play is based on long established, tried and tested approaches, uses symbols and objects as well as words values process, openness and discovery and encourages people to make meaning for themselves. It invites listeners into stories and encourages them to connect the stories with personal experience.
Godly Play run their own course (although we do run them locally from time to time too).
