Training & Events

The Church of England requires everyone who holds the Bishop’s license, permission, authorisation or commission – clergy, Readers, Commissioned Pastoral Visitors - Church Wardens, Parish Safeguarding Co-ordinators, PCC Safeguarding Leads and all volunteers and paid workers who work with children, young people and vulnerable adults to attend safeguarding training every three years.

PCC Members are recommended, but not required, to complete the C0 Safeguarding Awareness e-learning module here

If you have already attended a C1, C2 or C3 session (since January 2016) and now need to renew your safeguarding training you should attend a refresher module.  

Please be aware that you must have attended a C1, C2 or C3 session delivered by The Church of England before you can attend a C5 refresher session.  If you have attended safeguarding training delivered by another organisation,  such as a school, you must still attend C1, C2 or C3 before you can attend this C5 refresher session.

Pastoral visitors, leaders and helpers of activities for vulnerable adults

The Body, Mind & Spirit Partnership and The Church of England - Birmingham offer a specially developed session to support good safeguarding practice for those regularly working with adults who are more vulnerable, in the church and community.
