Having completed Jesus Shaped People, the congregation at Garrett’s Green - like so many people - were willing and wanting to share their faith, but weren’t necessarily sure where to start or how to have a conversation with someone about it. Cue ‘Fruit Bowl’, a resource developed by their Mission Apprentice (MA), Kathryn.
She wanted to develop a tool to help people have conversations without it seeming fake or awkward. Fruit Bowl is a series of cards based on the Fruit of the Spirit. Each card has one aspect of the fruit on one side, and a thought provoking, discussion starting question on the back – each linked to another passage in the Bible. The idea is to have people (perhaps a friend who has been asking about your faith), round for a meal or for tea and cake, and have these cards on the table to help facilitate a discussion.
So far, so good! People seem to have enjoyed using them, and the other MAs have been asking for copies of the resource!
