This year, across the UK, figures have shown a 14% rise in numbers training for ordination, from 476 last year to 543 this year. This includes a 17% rise in women training for ordination. The figures also show that 25% of those being ordained are under 32. This comes after the launch in 2015 of Renewal and Reform, a body of work initiated by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, to breathe new life into the Church through growing lay and ordained vocations.
Stories of ordination
Last year, we asked three people to tell us their stories of ordination; what ordination means to them and why they are taking this step.
You can watch their stories here: www.cofebirmingham.com/news/2016/06/30/ordinations-2016/
