LYCiG Conference September 2017

Our second Leading your Church into Growth (LyCiG) Conference took place on 15-17 September 2017 at the DeVere Staverton hotel, courtesy of the Church Commissioners.

LyCiG Conference delegatesLay and clergy representatives from 18 parish churches were treated to three intensive days of the wit and wisdom of the LyCiG team; Revd Canon Robin Gamble and Revd Sharon Kaye from the Diocese of Leeds, Tracey White, a Funding Officer from the Diocese of Asaph and our very own Liz Dumain, one of the Directors of Growing Younger.

106 people talked, worshipped, ate and shared communion together over the weekend. Most importantly, many have taken vital lessons, ideas and inspiration back to their parish churches; from creating a welcoming space to working on their mission plan to fostering a culture of invitation - not to mention the encouragement that growth is natural.

Delegate Feedback

"Spending time together in a hugely stimulating and inspirational environment has been so valuable... We're taking back to our church a strategy for the future and huge enthusiasm to get started!"

LyCiG conference speakers "It was all so so good. It is a thought-provoking, helpful course and being with other Christians is wonderful and encourages you to move your church forward. We can, through God, move forward. The course has given us hope to take back to our church."

"It's been good to learn that small steps will make a difference. We are doing some things well and the next steps are visible and attainable"

"The LyCiG Team and all the speakers were wonderful - very approachable and down to earth. This conference has reminded me that every member of the congregation is valuable, we're not just bottoms on seats!"

LyCiG conference delegates

"It has turned our 3 gifted lay people into a cohesive team to enable godly change."

"I've learnt that I'm alright, I can do it, I am good enough for Jesus. And now we have the equipment, inspiration and liberation to go forward from where we are now as a church."

"I think this is a great investment in encouraging a positive response to the need for culture change and missional transformation in parishes."

We will be hosting another LyCiG residential next year from 21 to 23 September 2018, at The Hayes Conference Centre, Swanick
