Fruitbowl

You may have recently picked up a Fruitbowl pack and this is all new to you, but if you are intrigued why not take a closer look at what faith means to others on our website.

If you want to know more about Fruitbowl read on.

What is Fruitbowl?

The Bible tells us that followers of Jesus have the fruit of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness and Self-control. But what do these characteristics look like? Are they characteristics that we can all have? What happens if we live by them? Who is the Holy Spirit, and what does ‘Fruit of The Spirit’ really mean?

Put simply Fruitbowl is a pack of 50 cards, each one a conversation starter. The Fruitbowl cards help you discuss the fruits of the Spirit with others whilst using the Bible as a base. They are great at facilitating group discussion and helping those that may struggle with a traditional bible study, dig deeper into faith.

Where did it come from?

Fruitbowl was developed by Kathryn Alvis as part of her Mission Apprentice work at St Thomas Garretts Green. This Mission Apprentice cohort, as well as the design and printing of these cards, have been funded by a grant from the Church Commissioners and we would like to thank them for their support. Also integral to the development of this resource have been the following:

  • Revd Susan Larkin, who was Kathryn’s supervisor.
  • The congregation of St Thomas Garretts Green, who were the people using and testing the resource as it developed.
  • Ian Jones and the St Peters Saltley Trust who funded the creation of the pilot packs of this resource.
  • John and Richard at Morse-Brown Design who designed this update pack.

Could you use it?

Thanks to the generosity of the Church Commissioners we have free packs available for Church of England Birmingham groups to have. If you think your group could benefit from this resource please get in contact with Steve Cook who will arrange a way for you to collect one.
