Announcement of new Ecumenical Advisers

The Bishop welcomes the Revd Mike Claridge and the Revd Julian Francis (also Interim Archdeacon) as his new Ecumenical Advisers. They take over from the Revd Nick Parker.

The Revd Mike Claridge

Mike Claridge is Minister of The Cotteridge Church where he represents the C of E, Methodist and United Reformed Churches. Prior to Cotteridge he served at St Andrew’s, West Bromwich, a C of E/Methodist LEP where he additionally had pastoral charge of two Methodist churches. Mike trained at Queen’s College, Edgbaston, two terms of which were spent at The Ecumenical Institute of the World Council of Churches in Bossey near Geneva. His interests include reading, genealogy and cycling.


The Revd Julian Francis

Julian is Vicar of St George's Church Edgbaston. He is chair of the Edgbaston and Ladywood Churches Together. At St George's the premises are shared with the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church with an Ethiopian and Eritrean membership and the United Methodist Church of Zimbabwean membership. Julian will have a particular concern to assist parishes sharing premises with sister churches. He worked as Associate Minister of St Andrew's Church West Bromwich CofE/Methodist LEP (before Mike became Minister!) and co-led the Centre for Black Ministries and Leadership at the Queen's Foundation working with Weslyan Holiness, Pentecostal, Methodist and Anglican colleagues. He enjoys cooking, theatre, golf, walking and holidays.
