In February and March we have had two People and Places events, one for clergy and a second for clergy and lay leaders wanting to lead a conversation about P&P with their PCC. It was good to hear different voices, stories and insights from a wide range of people, all of whom had valuable things to bring to the table from God’s generosity. Particularly memorable was the testimony from people working together developing oversight ministry as well as reminders of the power of lay ministry.
Also discussed were concerns about ministering through change, addressing fears about the future, what new deaneries and full-time Area Deans will look like and how we can better understand and share the theological basis for our work. We continue to pray and work on all those things as we move forward. A copy of the March update with details of progress, support, prayer and help along with other materials can be found on the P&P pages of our website.
The next key event to support parishes is the P&P Big Day Out on 18 May. This is for whole PCCs to come along and receive some great training on how to work well together, to spend time in prayer and reflection at the start of the new PCC year, and to receive the P&P presentation from our team (saving you time and energy in the process). We are looking forward to a great day together. Since our first publicity we have been able to find some funding for the event and can confirm that the costs will be on a donation basis of £25 per PCC, regardless of size. If that presents a problem please don’t let finance prevent you from coming and talk to us about it.
PLEASE BOOK IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE by emailing our administrator Cindi Hofton at PeopleAndPlaces@cofebirmingham.com
Please pray for Gary (Programme Manager) and Cindi (Programme Administrator) as they start their new roles and for all of us seeking God’s wisdom, strength and vision for the future.
