Members of St Peter’s Church, Balsall Common have a long standing involvement and affection for our sisters and brothers in Malawi. We have a strong link with the Mothers’ Union there and every year we collect items for the container. We have recently been collecting clothes, cooking items, wellies, pencils etc. Claire Laland, a member of the Malawi Task Group, worships at this church and through her we get up to date news as well as meeting many visitors from Malawi.
After the recent floods and cyclone Claire asked if we would redouble our prayers for those in Malawi, particularly in the south of the country which had been hit hardest.
At the family service SWITCH we have various activities for all to join and as the lesson was about sharing with others we were thinking, what more can we do for those in Malawi. It was decided that those present would make cards telling our brothers and sisters in Malawi that we were thinking of them and praying for them. The cards were made by both children and adults and messages written on them. They are now winging their way to Malawi where we hope they will bring comfort to some of those who have lost property, possessions and sometimes loved ones.
