Birmingham City Mission's Christmas appeal

Christmas is a time when ‘home’ becomes a special place. Somewhere that feels secure and safe. Smells that waft from the kitchen bring back memories of our childhood. The laughter and hugs that are given as presents are shared and opened. The steaming turkey dinner arriving on the table and those once a year sprouts with chestnuts; all these add to the joy of the season.

adly, for many in our city, Christmas will be very different. For our homeless community it can be hard as they remember lost families and soured relationships. Rather than the joy of the season, it can be a depressing and dark time. For others it can be a lonely and isolating few days. As soon as it begins they are looking for it to end.

Care Centre mealAt Birmingham City Mission we do what we can to support those who are less fortunate. This Christmas we will distribute thousands of toys to families across our city. We will invite the homeless who attend our Care Centre to a special meal and each one will take gifts away to open. Our elderly guests will enjoy festive meals together. Many hampers will be distributed to families. There will be welcome, friendship and a sense of family.

We couldn’t do all this without your generosity. We ask you to give a special Christmas gift this year so that we can share God’s love to the people of our great city. Thank you.
