Local Stories of Mission and Growth

We are excited about the many things that God is doing amongst us, and the way in which church communities of all shapes and sizes are offering new and imaginative ways for people to share in worship, witness and service across Church of England Birmingham.

These gatherings are providing fresh opportunities for spiritual exploration, discipleship and community connection, attracting individuals and families who may have felt hesitant about stepping into a more traditional church environment.

Breakfast church

Food and fellowship are one of the great pairings in life, a fact that is seen at one parish's monthly Breakfast Church Service held in an Oversight Area in south Birmingham.

Celebrating faith in the 4th-age

Hillside Oversight Area in south Birmingham has worked together to grow and develop their ministry in local care homes, and more widely with ‘4th-agers’ in their communities.

Dying Matters

A recognition that bereaved families had many questions and an awareness of the cost of burials, led the churches in Oversight Area FO3 to respond together.

Intercultural church

Churches in an Oversight Area recognized that they were welcoming a significant number of people into their churches whose first language is Urdu and who were new to faith.

Youthwork is not 'one size fits all'

A number of parishes in east Birmingham have worked with Safe Spaces For Young People to develop a number of drop-in Youth Projects across their area.
