Heavenly Father, guide us to see truth and goodness, open our minds, soften our hearts, and lead many to discover the life and love found in Jesus.

Loving God, we entrust our lives into your hands, knowing that you are our ultimate protector. Grant us a holiday season, whether home or away, filled with joy, peace, and safety. In your mighty name, we pray.

Sunday 3

Gracious God,

We give you thanks for this generous provision of funding for the Church of England Birmingham.
Thank you for every opportunity it will bring—to grow churches at the heart of every community, to raise up leaders, to plant and revitalise, and to share your love with renewed boldness.
Bless those who will lead, those who will give, and those who will go.
May this investment bear lasting fruit for your Kingdom.

Holy Spirit who breathed over the face of the waters and are at work in the natural world, we ask for your help, both to relax over the summer holidays and also to prepare for the Season of Creation next month, in which you call us to take part in your life-giving work.

Father in heaven,
whose Son Jesus Christ was wonderfully transfigured
before chosen witnesses upon the holy mountain,
and spoke of the exodus he would accomplish at Jerusalem:
give us strength so to hear his voice and bear our cross
that in the world to come we may see him as he is;
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Please help us to love and cherish our surroundings, to treat our neighbours with kindness and respect, and to appreciate all the blessings You have bestowed upon us. We pray for God's blessing as we seek to increase and strengthen our membership, develop and enhance the support we are able to provide to those in need in our communities and to deepen our love and faith in Christ.

Lord, we thank you for those who volunteer to provide the intercessions for services and for those who read the Epistle and Old Testament passages on Sundays and for mid-week services. May they prepare with due care, so that your Holy Spirit can speak through them and inspire us.

This week is National Allotments Week (11th to 17th August),

John Nightingale invites us to pray,

Small parcels of land for household food production have been available for hundreds of years and become increasingly important after the Industrial Revolution. Thank you God for gardens and allotments. May they help more people grow healthy food, take exercise and enjoy fresh air.

International Youth Day

Lord our Father, protect and guide our youth amid challenges like family struggles, community dangers, and mental health. Shield them from harm, surround them with caring influences, and draw them closer to Jesus, trusting in Your grace to lead them to hope, safety, and salvation.

The Blessed Virgin Mary

Father, I place myself and my family under Your protection today. As Mary was assumed into Heaven, may Your protective hand be upon us, shielding us from any danger. Grant us peace and confidence in Your divine protection, knowing that You are always with us.

Heavenly Father, guide our lives to inspire curiosity and reflection, so that all may see Jesus in us. Fill us with your love and wisdom, that our actions always point to Him.

Thank you, Lord, for all the blessings in my life. Thank you for the sunrise, the stars, family, friends, and the beauty of creation. Thank you for your guidance and protection. Most of all, thank you for never leaving my side. Have mercy and save me O God.

Heavenly Father, open doors for our churches to serve and share Your gospel creatively. Strengthen and bless us as we reach out to the lost and hurting, guiding us with Your wisdom.

World Humanitarian Day

Lord, we thank You for the dedicated humanitarian workers around the world. Bless their compassion, strength, and courage as they serve those in need. Protect and uplift them, and inspire us all to show kindness and support.

Wednesday 20

Bernard, Abbot of Clairvaux, Teacher of the Faith, 1153

In Jesus’ name, we speak light into darkness and hope into despair, trusting in His power to illuminate even the deepest shadows and bring renewal to every broken area of our lives. May His love shine brightly, guiding us toward righteousness, healing, and everlasting hope.

Loving God, we remember the victims of terrorism, honoring their lives and mourning their loss. Grant strength and healing to survivors, and inspire us to act with compassion, unity, and resolve to build a world of peace and justice.

International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief

Loving God, we lift up victims of violence, pray for their healing, and seek peace and understanding among all faiths.

Saturday 23

International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition

Almighty God, guide us to end exploitation and uphold the dignity of all. May we honor victims and heroes of justice, inspiring future generations to create a world rooted in equality, compassion, and unwavering respect for every human being.

We give thanks for our Oversight Area Ministry Team and all we have achieved together. We pray that our commitment to each other will continue to flourish and grow.

Lord, help us to care for the buildings and properties around us, and guide us to use them for your purposes. We lift before you the Diocesan Property Team, especially John Templeman in his new role as Director. May their work be guided by your wisdom, pleasing in your sight, and a blessing to others.

Thank you, God, for the farmers who work the land and provide for our needs. Bless their hard work and grant them fruitful harvests. We are grateful for the food they grow and the care they put into providing for us.
