Andrew Smith, Director of Interfaith Relations for the Bishop of Birmingham, invites us to pray,
Holy Spirit, as Lent and Ramadan coincide this year may we be people faithful to our walk with You,
and open to understand and befriend those of different faiths.
Help us to live at peace with our Muslim neighbours and to
demonstrate your love for them by our words and deeds.

Our prayer today is inspired by Isaiah 54:10
“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
Loving and powerful God, thank You for the promise of Your peace and compassion. Amen

Lord, we lift up Gas Street South. Thank You for their creativity and dedication in sharing your mission without a church building. We pray they continue to flourish and that their youth ministry keeps growing. Amen

Redeemer God, provide wisdom and guidance to the victims of floods, fires, and other environmental disasters, as they navigate through these challenging times. Bring comfort to those who are grieving the loss of loved ones and homes. Wrap them in Your loving arms and give them the strength to endure their sorrow. Amen

Lord we lift up our CofE Birmingham children, youth and families church services. Let them be a place where faith grows, where families are strengthened, and where Your peace reigns. Bless each family with patience, understanding, and a deeper knowledge of Your love, so that together, we may know You better and serve You more fully. Amen

Almighty Father, we lift up those who are worried about the cost of living. Please keep them warm, provide food on their tables and guide us as we seek to love our neighbours. We trust in Your continued provision for our needs, and we ask that You help our hearts remain thankful for all the blessings You give us. Amen

Heavenly Father, we give thanks for our CofE Birmingham church leaders.
Bless them and give them strength to care for the people in our parishes.
Protect their loved ones and keep their hearts close to You.

Creator God, thank You for each time we gather as a church community, and for the opportunity to empower Your people to join Your mission, right where You've placed them. In workshops, coffee shops, sitting rooms, boardrooms, hospitals, streets and schools. Guide us to reflect Your love and to live out Your purpose wherever we are. Amen

Heavenly Father, we bring to You those nations of the world torn apart by violence, unrest and fear.
Prince of Peace, fill those places where disorder seems to dominate.

Lord, we give thanks for all our members. May this network cover CofE Birmingham in prayer and be a catalyst for stirring up a greater culture of prayer among us. Amen

God of abundance and new beginnings, as we prepare for the discipline and reflection of the next forty days, guide us to use this time wisely.
Help us to turn our hearts to You, to be more attentive to the needs of the poor, and to serve others with deeper love and freedom.

Heavenly Father, as Lent begins, we ask for Your grace to help us reflect deeply and pray sincerely. Guide us to turn away from distractions and towards You, and to grow in love and discipline through fasting and giving. Thank You for Your presence with us, renewing our hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.

Yesterday was the start of both Lent and Ramadan, when Christians and Muslims are called to study, pray, fast and give to charity.

We thank You Lord for our CofE Birmingham Growing Gifts programmes and resources; Stepping Stones, Young Worship Leaders & Preachers and Growing as a Team, which support the church to respond to God's call to share in God's mission through recognising and celebrating the rich and varied gifting from God within the Church. Lord God, we thank You for our neighbours, our friends and for the people around us with whom we work and share our daily lives. We thank You, for all the joys and blessings of family life. Help us reach out to those who are lonely and isolated, show us all what we can do to help, and teach us to be good neighbours and true friends. Amen
