Wednesday 1 November

All Saints’ Day

Dear God, thank you for the example of
the Saints. I desire to join with their company
in Heaven, worshipping you forever. Please
help me follow their footsteps, and yours, Jesus
Christ. Please help me to conform myself to
Your image, seeking Your will in all things, as the
Saints did. Please help me to devote myself, and
all that I do, to Your glory, and to the service of
my neighbors.
Amen


Thursday 2 November

Commemoration of the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day)

Olwyn Powell invites us to pray,

O Lord, we hear and see the news from
Israel and don’t know what to say, we see the
scenes of violence and don’t know how to
pray; we read of people fighting over the Land
of Israel and know it has been thus for some
years. We cannot bear seeing the violent and
sad happenings. We weep, Lord, at the terrible
damage to innocent people and their deep
sadness in the loss of loved ones. Lord, bless the
world, and hear the cry of our hearts.

Heavenly Father, as we enter Movember, we
lift up those affected by men’s health issues. Grant
strength and healing to those in need, wisdom to
healthcare professionals, and courage to those
struggling with their mental well-being.

Tonight is Bonfire Night

Loving God, on this Bonfire Night, we
are thankful for the warmth and the company
of loved ones. We ask for your protection and
guidance as we celebrate and remember the
events of this day.

Heavenly father, after the first week of the
Birmingham Christmas Markets we pray for all
those who have attended and plan to attend. We
hope that the festive season brings joy to all those
involved in the markets and that the city stays safe
during this period.

gratitude. We are thankful for the

souls who have defended freedom.
We remember their courage, their dedication,
and their unwavering commitment to a world
at peace. We are grateful for the lessons
they teach us about sacrifice, unity, and the
importance of striving for a better world

let us remember our comfort with you and
the warmth your Spirit provides. Lord Jesus, we
ask that you watch over and help those who are
struggling with energy costs and keeping houses
warm this time of year.

LGBT+ Chaplaincy Team invites us to pray,

Almighty God, from whom we all derive our
true being and identity, we pray for the members
of all houses of General Synod as they discern the
Living in Love and Faith process, and the proposed
prayers for the blessing of same sex relationships.
Guide them by your Holy Spirit that they might
discover your will for all your children, each made
in your image and living out the promise of life in all
its fullness. Comfort those for whom the process
is difficult, especially those whose hearts might
be hurt or broken by the outcome. We pray for all
those who yearn for their loving relationships to be
blessed by the church, reassured in the knowledge
that all love comes from you.

Gracious Lord, we are eternally grateful for
every blessing you give us. Instill in us the
confidence and strength to speak out about you
and your grace.

On this Feast Day of St. Edmund, we remember
his unwavering faith and courage. We seek his
intercession for strength in our own lives. May
his example inspire us to stand firm in our faith
and to show compassion to others. In his name, we pray.

Tuesday 21 November

Heavenly Father, we pray for our chaplaincies in
healthcare, university, school, further education,
prison, retail, and businesses. May they bring comfort,
guidance, and support to those they serve. Bless their
work and grant them wisdom and compassion. In your
name, we pray.

Heavenly Father,

kingdom;
where he is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

Almighty and merciful God, whose Son
became a refugee and had no place to
call his own; look with mercy on those
who today are fleeing from danger, homeless
and hungry. Bless those who work to bring
them relief; inspire generosity and compassion
in all our hearts; and guide the nations of the
world towards that day when all will rejoice
in your Kingdom of justice and of peace;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Father, as we approach the colder
weather and harsher conditions let us
pray for all those who do not have safe shelter
or warm clothes. We pray that passers by,
strangers, friends and communities all act
in your name and character with generosity
and kindness in helping and aiding those less
fortunate.

Creator God,
you made us all in your image:
may we discern you in all that we see,
and serve you in all that we do;

Wednesday 29 November

Day of Intercession and Thanksgiving for the Missionary Work of the Church

John Nightingale invites us to pray for:

Tomorrow, the COP28 Conference begins
in Dubai, Arab Emirates. Let us pray that
businesses, banks and governments responsible
for the production and consumption of energy
may shift finance, personnel, research and
technology away from fossil fuels and into
renewables.

Lord, today we pray for the consecration of
our Bishop- Designate, Michael Volland. Inspire
his work and ministry in the Church of England
Birmingham so that he may serve you dutifully
and faithfully. Grant him wisdom and courage
and replenish him with your Spirit and Word.
