Christ Church Summerfield is a diverse and growing church in North Edgbaston. We have a vision to see the people of North Edgbaston living lives of hope in Jesus’ name, particularly focussing on under 25’s and those experiencing social isolation. The aim of our staff team is to serve the wider community and provide resources for mission and ministry of the church.  

Christ Church is passionate about worship that is celebratory, prophetic, spontaneous, faith-building, intimate, uplifting, deep, full of joy, and representing the cultural diversity of our community. We have built a strong and committed worship team of over 15 musicians and worship leaders. We are now looking for a Worship Lead to take our worship culture into its next season. + What are we looking for? 

We are looking to recruit a worship lead to build on our growing worship team and wider church worship culture. This is a significant leadership position with the Christ Church team and wider church community. You will hold the vision for worship at Christ Church. You will be responsible for envisioning and growing our team of capable, passionate and committed musicians. You will work alongside the Lead Pastors in discerning where God is calling out church community in worship and praise.

• A heart and passion for the worship of Jesus Christ 

 • Exceptional leadership and management skills  

• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills  

• Experience of worship leading (not necessarily in a paid capacity)  

• Passionate to see our church community grow spiritually in the love and worship of Jesus Christ and in their love for one another.  

• Accomplished musician and singer, with good levels of competence of piano or guitar 

 • Proactive and self-motivated  

• Be flexible and innovative, able to adapt to changing circumstances and to develop new ways of working with a ‘can do attitude’. 

 • Ability to juggle a broad range of responsibilities  

• Good time management skills with proven ability to prioritise workload  

• Good administrative skills  

• Personal walk with Jesus underpinning a lifestyle of integrity  

 

There is a genuine occupational requirement that the post-holder be a practising Christian • This role will require an enhanced DBS check  

+ Job Description & Information 

Job Title: Worship Lead 

Responsible to: Lead Pastor (Rev Dr Katie Stock) 

Hours: Up to 14 hours per week (Sunday morning gathering, Monday in office, remaining hours flexible) 

Pay: £23,575 pro rata 

Contract: Permanent contract with 3 month probation. 

 

+ Key Responsibilities & Tasks 

Worship Leadership 

• Lead worship regularly at Sunday services and key events. 

• Carry vision for worship that reflects the values of Christ Church 

• Cultivate a culture of expectation, encounter, and freedom in worship. 

Team Leadership 

• Provide spiritual, pastoral and musical leadership to the worship team of over 15 members. 

• Oversee rotas, rehearsals, and termly team night. 

• Oversee Worship and Production budgets alongside Operations Manager. 

Strategic Development 

• Set the vision for the next chapter of worship life at Christ Church 

• Ensure worship aligns with the overall church vision and values. 

• Work closely with the church leadership to discern the direction of worship in different contexts (Sunday gathering, youth, prayer gatherings).
