The Birmingham Anglo-Catholic Mission Project is a funded project working with five parishes across Church of England Birmingham. This five-year project aims not only to help grow churches in a sacramental context, but also to learn more about contextual barriers to mission.
The Anglo-Catholic Missioner, Mother Charlotte Gibson, spends time with the parishes on Sundays as well as in Bible studies and courses. There is currently a mission team comprised of volunteers and leaders from the parishes, with opportunities to equip and grow local leaders.
The team plans and runs events and courses for the parishes, such as the Cosy Christmas Sing which took place at St Alban’s, Highgate, for the first time in December 2024. The project has seen some growth in two of the parishes: one at Christmas services and events, and one with an increase in adult baptism and confirmations through the Seekers’ Course which was developed specifically for churches with an Anglo-Catholic tradition and spirituality.
