Parish Building Surveyors

The two Parish Building Surveyors on the Property Team can help with organising Church property reactive repairs and maintenance on behalf of PCCs.

Jan Bakewell (Birmingham Archdeaconry) is the Parish Building Surveyor on the Property Team. She is able to:

  • Oversee reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on behalf of PCCs
  • Support PCCs with their PPM plans and where necessary carry out further condition surveys
  • Advise PCCs on regulatory and statutory compliance and construction related health and safety
  • Source suitably competent contractors for projects and obtain two or three quotations if required for budget holders
  • Evaluate quotations/tenders with recommendations of the most suitable contractor
  • Project manage works on site, act as contract administrator and main point of contact with contractor(s) and any other consultants appointed in relation to the works
  • Guide PCCs with faculty submissions and advise on any further statutory compliance

Before a Parish Building Surveyor can provide support to your church, a Service Level Agreement needs to be signed on behalf of the PCC by the incumbent or churchwarden.
