International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Revd Dele Sotonwa, Chair Racial Justice Board, invites us to pray,

Heavenly Father,
As the international day for the elimination of Racial discrimination is being observed,
We thank you for the love you showed to humanity by sending your son Jesus Christ to die for us and save us from our sins.
We thank you for the gift of salvation you gave to the entire human race without prejudices or favoritism.
We thank you for the privilege to be called your children, regardless of our race, status or background.
We acknowledge that you alone chose us to be your very own and we did not choose ourselves.
We acknowledge that you made humanity to be equal and diverse in race so that your glory may cover the whole earth.
We ask you to forgive us for the ways we have not behaved according to your own nature, for treating our fellow brothers and sisters unfairly.
We ask you to forgive us for discriminating against and acting with disdain towards our brothers and sisters of other tribes and races, and who are different from us.
We repent of the sins that may have been inspired by the arrogance and privileges of our own background.
And we ask for the humility to be fair, welcoming and kind towards others.
Give us the grace to build up communities and societies where the walls of discrimination and racism no longer exist.
Bind us together with your love and make us one so that the world may know that we have all been created in your own image
And together, may we create a future that is based on justice, fairness, equity and healing, and where your hope for humanity is fulfilled.
This we ask, in Jesus name.
